ARKANSAS RIVER IN SALIDA / BUENA VISTA / LEADVILLE

The Arkansas River is home to 102 miles of Colorado’s Gold Medal designated trout water. This year round fishery is a family friendly experience for anglers of any skill level.

Walk and Wade Trips and Float Fishing:

Wade trip involve walking along the river’s edge and sometimes out into the river while wearing fishing waders and boots. We operate these trips with a max of 3 anglers per guide, but can always add another guide if you are a group of more than 3.

Float fishing trips are a max of 2 anglers in a boat with 1 guide. We float different sections of the Arkansas River depending on the river flows.

Beginners Welcome!

If you are a beginner, with any of our trips booked our guides will take a period of time in the beginning of your trip to hold a casting lesson and get you acquainted with the mechanics of fly fishing. While beginners are welcome on any of our trips from floating to our High Alpine Lake trips, we find the half day walk and wade trip on the Arkansas River is the perfect trip if you are really looking to get a good foundation in the skills needed to fly fish. You’ll have guide at your side the whole time to assist with tangles and catches.

SOUTH PLATTE RIVER

The South Platte River is located a little over an hours drive east of Salida. The ‘Dream Stream’ section in between Spinney and Eleven Mile Reservoirs is known for it’s large migratory trout entering the river from Eleven Mile Reservoir in the spring and fall. Large number of Kokanee Salmon also move into the river in the fall. As the Kokanee begin to spawn, sight fishing to large trout feeding on their eggs is the name of the game. This tail water is not an easy fishery by any means but can be extremely rewarding for the persistent angler.
